Paolo Bianco, designer and researcher
He graduated from the Politecnico di Torino in Sustainable Architecture (MAST) with a thesis that used the Valle Bormida, between Piedmont and Liguria, as a case study to investigate urban and social dynamics in Italy’s Aree Interne and, more broadly, within the Apennine territories.
He is currently a PhD Candidate in Architecture. History and Project at the Politecnico di Torino and a member of the Transitional Morphologies Joint Research Unit. His research explores the transformation of contemporary agricultural landscapes, focusing on the evolution of farms into hybrid and multi-dimensional productive hubs. He is also a Visiting Researcher at Fundación RIA in Santiago de Compostela.
Since 2020, he has been a teaching assistant in architectural and urban design studios at the Politecnico di Torino. From 2020 to 2022, he curated workshops on architecture, graphic design and self-construction in Alta Langa, in collaboration with young and innovative practices from the Italian and European design scene. He previously gained professional experience working at BDR Bureau in Turin.
Since 2022, he has been part of Interfaces, a design studio and research space that explores possible futures for places at the margins of the architectural debate.
For the project Contrasto (in collaboration with Agnese Caprioli), he was selected for the exhibition Italy: A New Collective Landscape at the ADI Design Museum in Milan, showcasing 100 Italian designers under 35.
He lives and works in Turin and, whenever possible, returns to his Alta Langa.
